Pediatric Nurse Practitioners - Miss Allison  &  Miss Alicia

 Physician Provider

Richard Rodriguez, MD  (a.k.a Dr. Rich  or  Coach Doc)

Hello parents and welcome to Sunshine Pediatrics.

I graduated from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida, in 1986, and completed my 3-year pediatric residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center / Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Women in 1991.

Following completion of my residency, I joined my father, Carlos Rodriguez, MD,  in his private practice in Winter Park, Florida.  In December of 1993,  I joined Dr. David Carr at Pediatrics Plus in Orlando where I spent thirteen years.  While being part of Pediatrics Plus was a great experience, I always dreamed of having my own practice closer to my home so I could practice what I preach about parents spending time with their children.

Caring for children and adolescents, both well and sick, is truly a group effort. Prevention is a big part of what pediatricians “preach” and I am no exception. I feel my role as a pediatrician is to help guide children and their families during periods of illness and to monitor growth and development during wellness through regularly scheduled check-ups. All of this is in an effort to foster an ongoing understanding of human growth and maturation from infancy through to young adulthood.

I'm blessed with a wonderful wife, Cindy.  We are the proud parents of Michael Gregory (a.k.a. Mikey, a.k.a The Wall, hockey goalie) and Phillip James (a.k.a. Phillster).  The boys are both in boy scouts and play hockey.  I enjoy helping with scouts and coaching hockey.  Cindy is such a good sport putting up with all the guy stuff and we appreciate her as she's our number one cheer leader.

Again, welcome to Sunshine Pediatrics where our goal is to help you enjoy your parenting experience.

Richard Rodriguez, M.D.

Allison West, MS, ARNP, FNP -C, CPN (a.k.a Miss Allison)

Hello Parents,

My name Is Allison West and I am one of the Nurse Practitioners here at Sunshine Pediatrics, working with Dr. Rich.

I graduated from the University of Central Florida’s nursing program in 2009 and began my healthcare journey at The Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children as a pediatric oncology/progressive care nurse. Always looking to expand my knowledge and experience, I transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in 2011 and trained as a pediatric transport/ flight nurse soon after.

After two years as an ICU nurse, critical care transport nurse, and charge nurse, I enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner graduate program at the University of South Florida in 2013.

Following the completion of my program, I was honored to join Dr. Rich at Sunshine Pediatrics in 2015 as a Nurse Practitioner. Having had the opportunity to be a part of a great team that helped heal some very ill children has given me a prevention oriented approach to caring for children. I am blessed to have the opportunity to do so here.

I could not have succeeded on my journey if not for the love and support of my husband, Matt, and the rest of my family. I thank God every day for the wonderful family that I have.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of the team that you trust to care for your children.

Allison West, MS, ARNP, FNP -C, CPN

Alicia Gomrad, MS, ARNP, CPNP (a.k.a Miss Alicia)

Hello Parents,

My name is Alicia Gomrad and I am a Board Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I am excited to be working with the team at Sunshine Pediatrics
as I go into my 10th year as a healthcare professional.

I started my career working at Winnie Palmer Hospital where I worked as a Registered Nurse in a level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. While working there I completed my Master of Science Degree at The University of South Florida, specializing as a pediatric nurse practitioner. I am excited to follow my passion for taking care of children while working with Dr. Rich and the rest of our wonderful staff here at Sunshine Pediatrics.

My husband and I have both lived in the Central Florida area for over 25 years. We are blessed to have three beautiful daughters and lots of extended
family that have supported us in our life’s journey.

Thank you for the opportunity to work with your children here at Sunshine Pediatrics. I look forward to getting to know each and everyone of you.

Alicia Gomrad, MS, ARNP, CPNP
